These terms govern your use of this website and any purchase you make from REWOUND Timepieces. By ordering from us you accept them. Please read the section on vintage watches in particular, because it describes what you are actually buying.
Who we are
REWOUND Timepieces is a vintage watch studio operating from Delhi, India. We source older watches, work on each one according to what it needs, document its condition, and sell it to a single owner. We can be reached at hello@rewoundtimepieces.com.
Who can buy
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to order from this site. By placing an order you confirm that you are.
The watches
Every watch listed here is a single, individual, pre-owned item. There is one of each. Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate.
First, the photographs on a listing are of the actual watch you will receive. They are not stock or catalogue images of the model. Second, when a watch sells it is gone; it does not return in another size, colour or condition.
Each listing states, in the same order every time: the condition including visible wear; the work carried out on that specific piece; which components we believe to be original; which have been replaced; what we cannot verify; how the movement was running at the time of listing; and what is included in the sale. Where age, provenance or originality cannot be confirmed, we say so rather than guessing. We do not describe a watch as serviced unless it was serviced.
What buying a vintage watch means
These are old mechanical objects, sold as old mechanical objects. You should assume all of the following unless a specific listing tells you otherwise:
- A vintage mechanical movement will gain or lose time. It is not, and will never be, as accurate as a quartz watch.
- The watch is not water resistant. Original gaskets degrade with age. Keep it away from water, including rain, hand washing and showers.
- Signs of age, wear and patina are present and are documented in the listing rather than removed.
- The watch carries no manufacturer warranty. It is decades past any original guarantee, and the manufacturer has no obligation to you in respect of it.
- A vintage watch needs periodic servicing by a competent watchmaker, at the owner’s cost, as ongoing maintenance.
None of the above constitutes a fault, and none of it is grounds for a return. What is grounds for a return is a watch that does not match what its listing said, and that is covered in full by our Refund and Returns Policy.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include applicable Indian taxes unless stated otherwise. They do not include import duties or customs charges for international orders, which are payable by the buyer. Payment is taken at checkout through our payment providers. We do not see or store your card details.
We take reasonable care with pricing, but if a watch is listed at an obviously incorrect price through human error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it. We will contact you if this happens.
Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm dispatch. Until that point we may decline or cancel an order and refund you in full, for example if the watch has been sold in person, if we are unable to verify the payment, or if we cannot ship safely to your address.
Shipping and returns
Delivery timelines, insurance and customs are set out in our Shipping Policy. Returns, refunds and what happens if a watch is not as described are set out in our Refund and Returns Policy. Both form part of these terms.
After you buy
Once a watch is with you, its care is yours. We are glad to answer questions about a piece we sold at any point in the future, and we would rather you asked us than guessed. Work carried out on a watch by anyone other than us after delivery is outside our responsibility, and will end any recourse you would otherwise have had under our returns policy.
Our content
The photographs, written condition reports, descriptions and design on this site are our own work and belong to us. You may not copy, reuse or republish them, in particular to list or advertise a watch elsewhere. If you have bought a watch from us and want to use its photographs when you come to sell it on, ask us and we will almost certainly say yes.
Using this site
Do not attempt to interfere with the site, place fraudulent orders, scrape its content, or use it for anything unlawful.
Our liability
We stand fully behind the accuracy of what we publish about a watch, and behind our obligations under the Refund and Returns Policy. Beyond that, and to the extent the law permits, our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing here removes rights given to you by applicable consumer law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published when you placed your order.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
